A few key ways to support Abortion Fund of Ohio.
1. Fundraise with AFO
It’s not the most exciting to hear, but by far, the support we need most is fundraising. As an abortion fund, we don’t receive federal or state grants, and many private grants have restrictions on funding abortion, too.
That means our clients rely on grassroots fundraising from everyday people. It’s also why we ensure 100% of grassroots donations go towards abortion care. Each year, we host an annual Fund-a-Thon where teams work to fund abortion. But funding abortion is a year-long need, so here’s how you can start a fundraiser outside of our Fund-a-Thon season.
- Log into Facebook, and head either to our profile page or directly to our fundraising link.
- If you went to our profile, you will then need to click the “Fundraisers” tab under our profile picture. From there, just click “Raise Money”
- Now, you’ll get to pick your fundraising goal, end date, title, description of fundraiser or WHY you want to raise money for abortion access, and a cover photo.
- Finally, click “Create,” and from there, you’ll be taken to your dedicated fundraising page! You can share that page’s link directly to your Facebook feed, send it to friends, or post it elsewhere. Congrats, now anytime someone donates to your fundraiser, Facebook will automatically track donations and route funds to us without management on your end or ours!
- Log into the Instagram app (not available on desktop), and head to our profile page (@AbortionFundofOhio)
- At the top of our page, click “Support” located under our bio. From there, just click “Create Fundraiser”
- Now, you’ll get to pick your fundraising goal, any collaborators, title, description/WHY you want to raise money for abortion access, and a photo. Note: Instagram fundraisers default to 30 days, but you can edit it to end at any time.
- Finally, click “Share Fundraiser,” and from there, it will automatically display your fundraising in your bio. You also have the option to share it directly to your feed! Like Facebook, Instagram will cover all transaction fees & logistics of sending donations to us.
There are TONS of options when it comes to abortion-funding events. Some fun ideas include
- Yard sale
- Bake sale
- House party or pool party
- BBQ
- Paint & sip
- Craft night
- Picnic in the park
- Skill share or class
- Comedy show
- Happy hour
- Pro-abortion book club

Sharing our content makes a massive difference!

3. Start a monthly donation
Setting up a monthly donation—no matter what size—is hugely important. It also comes with perks, like our quarterly Abortion Access Circle Newsletter!
Most of us are working-class folks, and our power lies in collectivizing our resources as a community. It feels more manageable to give $1 or $5 or $10 monthly, and funds benefit from stability & sustainability.
Our average monthly donation is $20 or less, but together, our monthly donors fund more than 2,000 patients each year! Whether you can pledge $1, $10, or $100, we hope you consider joining our Abortion Access Circle.
